So far I like this service. Its about time some one came up with a way to help filter out the inbox better and automatically.

From my experience, I believe Nuance Communications does a better job at voice recognition than any other company so far. Although I have never used GOOG-411 and probably do not use Voice Search as much as I could for a better comparison. I just know that Google Voice has a long ways to go.

Galactic Inbox: An HTML5 game inspired by Gmail

This is sooo cool. Astroids with a Google feel to it.

Galactic Inbox: An HTML5 game inspired by Gmail: "Posted by Paul Truong, Creative Technologist

Webmail has come a long way in the past few years but it’s all too easy to take for granted practically unlimited inbox capacities and responsive interfaces backed by the power of search. While I’m not on the Gmail team, I felt a little celebration of how far we’ve come was in order, so I wrote a little HTML5 game, in part as a 'thank you' to the Gmail team for their ongoing work to improve the webmail galaxy. If you’re into games, or just like the idea of flying m-velopes that shoot bad guys, give it a try (make sure you’re using a modern browser that supports HTML5 first).

Search Google Docs and Google Sites in Gmail

I love this idea. Must be a part of the integration of other Google services into Google Apps.

Search Google Docs and Google Sites in Gmail: "Gmail Labs has a new feature that extends Gmail's search by showing results from Google Docs and Google Sites. If you enable Apps Search, you'll see a list of results from Google Docs and Google Sites below Gmail's search results. For some reason, Apps Search has a bug and returns incorrect URLs for Google Docs results, but I'm sure this will be fixed.

It's interesting that the Gmail Labs feature has been developed by the Apps Search team, which suggests that it's part of a bigger project. Most likely, Google will let you search all your data stored in a Google account from a single search box. If Google's universal search can combine images, videos, books, tweets, news articles in a single search results page, why can't Google develop an unified search service for Gmail messages, Google Calendar events, Google Reader subscriptions, Blogger posts, Picasa Web photos, contacts, tasks, Google Voice history and more?

Collect audience input with Google Sites & Moderator

Collect audience input with Google Sites & Moderator: "Google Moderator helps anyone find the best input from their audiences, whether it’s suggestions on how tostop the oil spill, debate questions at the Copenhagen climate change conference, or questions for Katy Perry. Starting today, you can use Moderator inside your Google Sites as well. For example, if you have a restaurant site, you can embed Google Moderator on your suggestions page to get input from your restaurant patrons. Here’s how:

1. Create a series at Google Moderator.

2. Start editing a page in your Google Site, and go to Insert and then More gadgets. Click on Featured and select Google Moderator at the bottom.

3. Click Select and then you’ll see the settings screen below. Copy and paste the URL from the series you created into the Moderator URL box, and make sure to check the Include a scrollbar on gadget when necessary option.

4. Click OK, save the page, and you’re all set! Your visitors will be able to start submitting and voting on suggestions immediately.

If you want to learn more about Google Moderator, check out the Google Public Sector Blog. You can also embed Moderator on other web sites, your YouTube channel or in your own applications with our API.

Going Google made easier with better IMAP and PST data migration

Its about time this happened. I will now be able to consolidate my gmail accounts. I can not wait until similar process become possible with between other google services.

Going Google made easier with better IMAP and PST data migration: "Customers moving to Google Apps are migrating email, calendar and contacts data from several different legacy systems, and many are doing so from mixed sources including data stored on end user machines and company servers. With this in mind, we’re constantly trying to make it really easy, fast and painless for you to migrate data in each of these scenarios.

We launched Google Apps Migration for Microsoft® Exchange last March to help Microsoft Exchange administrators perform centrally-managed migrations from Exchange servers. In May we announced Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Outlook, which allows end-users to move their data from PST files and Outlook profiles. Customers are also migrating from other systems such as Novell® GroupWise®, hosted Exchange and sometimes even from previous Gmail accounts. We are happy to announce that we are extending support for these migrations going forward with the introduction of new features to Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Exchange:

  • IMAP support – Administrators can use the tool’s new IMAP capabilities to migrate email from systems like Novell Groupwise to Google Apps, or even migrate data between Google Apps accounts.

  • PST support – Administrators can migrate PST files on behalf of users in their domain once they have aggregated users' data files in one location.

  • Better support for hosted Exchange – Administrators can now migrate data from hosted Exchange by running the migration tool on local servers, without requiring the Exchange hosting partner to run any special software on their end.

Join me on a live webinar on Wednesday, August 25th at 9am PST / 12pm EST / 5pm GMT where I’ll present the new features and highlight best practices, tips and tricks. Register here
